Other shows on tour were as ever a ritual of circumstances, nights in white satin, some nice scores along the way. Ipswich was curious, and so was Oxford. Internal boundaries crossed and swollen like a river in a storm. I watched as the leaves began to fall. Other real highlights included Newcastle and certainly Glasgow, both nights full of smiling faces and fans who paid good money to sing our songs and enjoy what was the tinders of our tour. I was exhausted by this point and slept at every turn on every sofa i could find. Hotels were like rescue centres where i laid my head in breakfasts and bed. The last show of the tour was in Harrogate, a nice night with a Christmas dinner organised by Gary who is our backstage glue. So, Lucy and Stephan are such nice people, teamwork, and thank God they are there in all of their professionalism and joy. Thanks Melvin who brings nothing but musical light to our journey. Simon the pie man, a rabbit in the headlights, a lovely man, drummer and friend. On tour there are many to thank, and i thank them all, as they know who they are. Another tour ends and its off home for some rest, lots of sleeps and lots of head wrenching thoughts about where how and why. Im so lucky to have Mrs D to hold my hand, and she does. Support from the heart. America and 5 weeks away awaits, i have mixed views, i have dampened feelings, but nothing a few hours in the head gym won’t cure. Fuck it, its only rock and roll after all not brain surgery, although i might need some of that too.
