March, My Brother Lew gets back on his feet and the hip is hipper than the old one, so good news there. The weather slowed down as the storms of last month took a rest, which was good news for Tony and the builders who cracked on with the barn. Meanwhile in storage we rooted through more boxes and chucked out loads of rubbish, stuff you collect and never use, its in storage for a reason, you wont give it house space so why keep it. My record collection is next. Its nuts. Mostly i have been in the moment with Mr T working out what we might do on our tour in November. Songs are being tipped upside down, we are talking and having a relaxed time being in each others company. The first time in 40 years. The tour is months away but we are thinking it all through song by song. Out on tour The Strypes are ripping up America, its going so great for them out there, four weeks of full on shows and hardly time to look out of the bus window. I miss them and wish i could have been there, but money says yo! Niall Richie and Jazz are doing such a great job over there on the road, and Peter too….My book is in a new phase, im in the edit suite with Rufus who is a wonderful person who has the vision to oversee the book in a way a producer oversees the recording of a record. Im very excited about this part of my day. I played with Suggs, Jools and Wilko Johnson with Roger Daultry at a fund raiser for Pancreatic Cancer. I enjoyed the thrill of being there and being one of the team. Seeing Jools again was lovely and Chalkie Davis too, who is over in the UK working on his exibition for next year. A fine photograher of the highest order. I played a solo show in Richmond Yorkshire, a long drive but worth it just to re tune the pipes and know i can be that guy on stage if i want to be. At home things are as ever, we are in limbo, its a tricky time for us all. March is like that, a walkway to April and Spring. And now the great leap from one month to another like the flip of a page in a book that ends but we never know where, a book that is a story unique in itself. I love my wife and together we can set sail for the future with a fair wind in our hearts. The barn is our home, a place to nest for five years, we can gather our twigs our mud and bracken for the future when we will live in our own house a place of destination. I like the feeling of moving on, it keeps the journey rolling. How wonderful.
