Songs from the Weald Oct 19 '06
I was asked to play a few songs one sunny afternoon last May in the Hospice in the Weald, my audience sat patiently while I played through my set. At the end I asked if anyone would like to write a song with me, I was surprised to find that most of them did. I was very inspired by listening to their stories, I took notes and complied a collection of lyrics for their approval. I then asked some friends of mine to write some music, and the demos followed. While in Italy on a writing workshop I asked the collected writers to help me complete my task with the lyrics that were left over, and in two days we had what you hear on this CD. The whole album has been very inspiring for me, it has opened my eyes to the value of time, the commodity most of us squander in our daily lives.
I have included two songs not related directly to the hospice. Watch over me is dedicated to a good friend Maxine who died 14 years ago of Cancer, she was a huge inspiration to me, and many others who were lucky enough to know her. Parents is about my Mum and Dad who passed away, again to cancer. Its been a wonderful moment in my life making this album, thanks to all the people involved, and their families who share in this journey into the garden where life cycles like the seasons.
The album is out this Friday October 20th via the Hospice web site, Hospice in the Weald.
Love
